ProLift, Tailgate Assist for Pick-Up Trucks

ProLift is a tailgate assist system for pick-up trucks, and it addresses a problem that anyone who has dropped a loaded tailgate knows immediately. A pick-up tailgate weighs between 20 and 30 kilograms, and the factory design usually lets it fall under its own weight and stops it abruptly with cables.

What tailgate assist does

A ProLift unit replaces or supplements the factory mechanism with a gas strut that damps the tailgate's descent, so it lowers slowly and under control instead of dropping. Closing it becomes easier too, because the strut supports part of the weight on the way back up.

Why it is worth fitting

There are three reasons beyond convenience. It prevents the impact damage to the cables, hinges and tailgate skin that repeated hard drops cause. It stops the tailgate slamming down onto whatever is behind it, including hands. And on a working vehicle where the tailgate is operated dozens of times a day, it removes a real physical strain.

Installation

Most applications are bolt on, using existing mounting points, and take well under an hour with basic tools.
