EZDown is an Australian designed tailgate assist system that controls the descent of a pick-up tailgate. It is a small product that solves a daily irritation and, more importantly, prevents cumulative damage.

The problem

A factory tailgate typically weighs 20 to 30 kilograms and is stopped at the bottom of its travel by two cables. Every time it is released, that mass drops and arrests hard, loading the cables, hinges and the tailgate skin. Over years of daily use on a working vehicle, that repeated shock is what stretches cables and cracks hinge mounts.

What EZDown does

The system fits inside or alongside the existing tailgate mechanism and uses a damper to slow the descent to a controlled rate. The tailgate lowers smoothly instead of falling, and requires noticeably less effort to lift because the damper supports part of the weight.

Installation

Most applications are designed for straightforward installation using existing mounting points, without cutting or drilling the tailgate.

Why it is worth it on a work truck
