Veriga, Slovenian Snow Chain Manufacturing

Veriga is a Slovenian manufacturer of snow chains and chain products, based in a country where mountain driving in winter is routine rather than exceptional. Slovenia sits at the eastern end of the Alps, which is exactly the sort of proving ground a chain manufacturer needs.

What separates a good chain

Three things determine whether a snow chain is worth having. The steel quality and heat treatment, which decide whether the links wear evenly or stretch and snap. The tensioning system, which decides whether the chain stays tight or works loose and damages the bodywork. And the fitting method, which decides whether you can get them on in the dark, in the cold, with gloves.

The Veriga range

Veriga produces chains for passenger cars, SUVs, 4x4s, vans, trucks, tractors and agricultural and forestry machinery. The industrial and agricultural side of the business is a good indicator, because those chains work continuously under load in a way that a car chain never does.

Certification

Chains supplied for road use are manufactured to the relevant European standards, which matters because Alpine countries enforce chain requirements on marked routes.
