DriveRite, Air Suspension for Vans and Light Commercials

DriveRite is a British specialist in air suspension and load assistance systems for vans, motorhomes, pick-ups and light commercial vehicles. It solves a problem that steel springs are fundamentally unable to solve on their own.

The contradiction with steel springs

A van's rear suspension has to work both empty and at full payload, and those two states can differ by well over a tonne. Springs stiff enough for the loaded case make the empty vehicle ride harshly and skip over bumps. Springs soft enough for the empty case sag under load, which drops the rear, points the headlights at the trees, upsets the handling and can leave the suspension riding on the bump stops.

Air assistance and full air

Air assist systems add air springs alongside the existing steel springs, and you simply adjust the pressure to suit the load. Full air replacement systems remove the steel springs entirely and give ride height control on the axle, including the ability to lower the vehicle for loading or raise it for clearance.

Where it matters most

Camper and motorhome conversions, tow vehicles, and any van that spends half its life empty and half fully loaded.
