TEIN, Japanese Suspension Engineering

TEIN is a Japanese suspension manufacturer founded by engineers with motorsport backgrounds, and it produces coilovers, dampers and springs developed on circuit and on the road rather than adapted from a catalogue.

Coilover systems

TEIN's coilover ranges cover everything from comfort oriented street systems to fully adjustable competition setups. Street Advance and Street Basis prioritise ride quality with modest lowering and damping adjustment. Flex and Mono Sport move towards track use with separate ride height and preload adjustment, allowing corner weighting.

Why separate height and preload matters

Cheap coilovers lower the car by compressing the spring, which uses up suspension travel and leaves the car crashing on its bump stops. A properly designed system adjusts ride height at the lower mount, independently of spring preload, so the car sits lower while keeping full damper stroke. That is the difference between a lowered car that handles and one that merely looks lowered.

EDFC electronic damping

TEIN's EDFC system adjusts damping force from inside the cabin using motors on the damper tops, with settings that can vary by axle and by speed.

Other ranges

EnduraPro replacement dampers, S.Tech and H.Tech lowering springs, and suspension components for road cars, SUVs and light trucks.
