Why a bed liner is not optional on a work truck

A pick-up bed is painted sheet steel. The first time you slide a load of timber, tools, tiles or scaffolding across it, the coating comes off, and the exposed steel starts corroding immediately. On a vehicle used daily this happens within weeks. Replacing or repairing a corroded bed costs many times more than lining it, and a rusted bed visibly reduces the resale value of an otherwise sound truck.

Over rail and under rail

An over rail liner wraps over the top edge of the bed sides, protecting the paint exactly where loading damage occurs, and suits vehicles carrying materials. An under rail liner stops below the rail, leaving the metal edge exposed, which is required when a tonneau cover, roller shutter or canopy has to seal directly against the bed rail.
