Clayton Off Road, Long Arm Suspension for Jeeps

Clayton Off Road Manufacturing is an American company that builds suspension systems for Jeep Wrangler, Cherokee and Gladiator, with a particular reputation for long arm conversions. It is a fabrication led business, which means the brackets and arms are designed, cut and welded by the people who then have to justify how they perform.

Why long arm

A factory short arm suspension works well at standard ride height, but once a Jeep is lifted several inches the short control arms swing through a steep arc, which changes caster and pinion angle sharply through the suspension travel and makes the vehicle ride harshly and steer inconsistently. A long arm conversion relocates the control arm mounts rearward on the chassis and fits much longer arms, flattening that arc. The result is a Jeep that articulates further off road and behaves far better on the road at the same lift height.

Build quality
