Krawczyk Driveshafts manufactures driveshafts and drivetrain components engineered for the loads that break standard propshafts. On a modified 4x4 the driveshaft sits at the end of a chain of upgrades, and it is usually the last component anyone thinks about until it fails.

Why standard propshafts fail on modified vehicles

Lifting a vehicle steepens the driveshaft's operating angle. A conventional universal joint running at a steep angle does not rotate at constant velocity, which produces vibration that grows with speed and gradually destroys bearings, joints and mounts. Add larger tyres, a locked differential and a lower axle ratio and the torque spike through the shaft rises sharply at exactly the moment the geometry is at its worst.
