Konig, Italian Snow Chains and Winter Traction

Konig is an Italian snow chain brand and one of the most recognised names in winter traction devices across Europe. The brand is known for chains that prioritise ease of fitting, which is the specification that actually matters when you are kneeling in slush on a mountain road at night.

Easy-Fit and self tensioning systems

The Easy-Fit range fits entirely from the outside of the wheel, with no need to reach behind the tyre, and tensions itself automatically once the vehicle moves off. On a car with limited wheel arch clearance this is not a luxury, because reaching behind the tyre to close a chain is often physically impossible.

K-Summit

The K-Summit system is a genuinely different design. It clamps to the wheel rather than passing behind the tyre at all, which makes it suitable for vehicles where the manufacturer states that conventional chains cannot be fitted due to insufficient clearance. That covers a large number of modern cars with big wheels and tight arches.

Choosing the right size

Chains are specified by tyre size, not by vehicle. Take the size from the tyre sidewall, and check the handbook for the maximum permitted chain thickness.
